The story of Elton John’s (Taron Egerton) life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell).

On the personal side, the movie covers his short-lived marriage to Renate Blauel (Celinde Schoenmaker), his relationship with John Reid (Richard Madden), who was his boyfriend and manager in the 1970s, as well as his struggles with substance abuse, depression and how he finally came to accept his sexual orientation.

The film will include classic songs such as “Crocodile Rock” and “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” performed by Egerton.
